This small african decorative basket, stitched is made of "lutindzi"grass, it has a size of 22cm in diameter and has a weight of 200grams.
"Lavumisa" is a region in the south of Swaziland that make these hand coiled and stitched baskets - the baskets are stitched with with a needle and takes one week to make by a highly skilled weaver.
"Lutindzi" grass, is an indigenous grass in Swaziland, it grows in the mountains on rocks.It is very tough and not eaten by cattle.It is sustainably harvested on once a year.The roots are left in the ground for next years growth.
